Short trip to Otaru, an old and historic harbor town

Date: August 5th (Thursday)
Time: 10:00-16:00
Capacity: Up to 25 people
Fee: None
Application deadline: August 2nd (Monday) 12:00

Otaru is a charming ocean-side city with a lot of tourist attractions, located approximately 40 km northeast of Sapporo along the Japan Sea coast. We will visit this city by chartered bus.

For the Japanese, Otaru has an atmosphere and sophistication of a foreign land and is known as a romantic and nostalgic city. As a herring-fishing town it was once the financial hub of Hokkaido, with its major financial institutes concentrated around the "Wall Street of the North". The stone and brick-built western-style buildings and old Japanese-style buildings, once the premises of banks and trading companies, still remain around the town.

You will tour an old Japanese-style house (Otaru distinguished guest house) and have a relaxing time to walk around downtown by your own.

Lunch will be included in this course. If you have any restriction for meals, please let us know so that we will try to accommodate your request.
